What We Did Not Like

Though as versatile as this bodyboard GoPro mount, it has some limitations. Depending on its width, some have found it too wide for specific boards. This mount after all is designed to be used on boards that are 1.5” to 3.5” thick.

This leads to it sticking out and could potentially cause drag and slow down the board itself. It is also a well-crafted mount, but if the boarder is expecting heavy waves, they may want to look at another option.

What We Did Not Like

Even with all those great features and added extras, this GoPro bodyboard mount still has a few things that could be addressed to make it even better. Though the mount itself is pretty durable, one area seems to have a few problems. 

The case connector lacks a little durability and may break easier than the rest. And if you are worried about adding extra weight to your board, this model is a little heavier than other options and might not be a good choice.

Along with that versatility the mount can be used with several different GoPro models and other action cameras. Among these are the GoPro Hero 8, Max 7, and GoPro 3 to 6. Also, it can be used with the Osmo Action, Xiaomi Yi, AKASO and SJCAM.

What We Did Not Like

This GoPro bodyboard mounting kit is compatible with a wide range of options. From not only GoPros themselves but to other action cameras. However, if the boarder uses the newest model of GoPro, the mount will not work for them. 

This could be a problem for some. Another factor that may cause people to opt for another choice is that the tether strap that is provided with the kit is very thin and may not be as durable as they would like.

One of the hardest things to do is to find the right angle. Part of the mounting process can be frustrating unless you are well-versed in camera usage. So the fact that this mounting kit comes with a mounting arrow to ensure the boarder is putting it on right is impressive.

One can use the mounting system in many Hero models, which is also quite handy. Like many other mounting kits, this unit is crafted with high-quality materials (completely plastic) and can be mounted to many different bodyboard models.

Frequent boarders are always looking for ways to elevate their performance without affecting their ride. With only 18 grams this mount fulfils our requirement in this regard completely. All that combines to make this kit a very valuable investment.

What We Did Not Like

Having the extra accessories in this kit adds a lot. However, one of those accessories, the locking plug, is unfortunately less durable than the rest of the unit. This could cause problems and reduce security for your GoPro.

Like many mounting kits, this system is designed to work on a wide range of bodyboards. The mounting hole perfectly fits as long as the board is between 1.5″ and 3.5″ thick. Knowing that they needed to make the mounting installation simple, they did.

We can really confirm that this mount provides a user-friendly installation (even though the boarder doesn’t get instructions with the kit, see below). For this mounting kit to be secure, it comes with the standard camera tether and locking plug. 

Furthermore you also get the mounting arrow to ensure that you get the right angles. This helps especially if you plan to install your mount not just in the center, but want to work with other angles in your footage. Once it is, the retention is super solid, which means you can rest easy as that camera will be very secure.

What We Did Not Like

Even though this mounting kit was manufactured by the company associated with the camera, a few issues still need to be discussed. Of those, the one that seems to be most universal is the screw length. We think that that the screw was too long. 

The only other issue is that after being used for a couple of hours in water and sand and due to the fact that this mount really fixes the camera tightly, it can be quite difficult to unclip it from the mount.

And, as always, when you buy branded high-quality products: the price is significantly higher compared to the other bodyboard mounts.
